Membership terms

These draft terms describe the intended public membership journey without inventing a fee, term, or benefit that ISMWE has not yet approved.

Membership structure

ISMWE’s filed articles establish one class of members. Every admitted member is entitled to receive notice of, attend, and cast one vote at meetings of members, subject to the filed articles and applicable law.

Labels used for outreach, pricing, professional stage, location, or programme access must not create a second legal class or remove rights contrary to the filed corporate documents.

Eligibility and application

The final live offer should identify who may apply, any age requirement, information needed, conduct commitment, the duly authorized admission decision-maker, review timing, and when membership takes effect. Submission of an interest or payment form is not membership. Membership and voting rights begin only after the approved requirements are met and ISMWE issues an admission confirmation.

Fee, currency, term, and renewal

The approved membership fee, currency, duration, start date, expiry date, renewal method, and any taxes or provider options must appear before payment on the ISMWE page and matching Zeffy form. None is established by this draft. If a form takes payment before an admission decision, the approved terms must explain that the application is pending and how and when the payment is returned if the applicant is not admitted. Automatic renewal must not be enabled or implied unless specifically approved, disclosed, and lawfully implemented.

Benefits and learning access

Only benefits identified in the confirmed offer are included. Availability may depend on scheduling, capacity, geography, technology, and reasonable programme changes.

LinkedIn group participation, Thinkific access, webinar registration, and membership are distinct relationships. A course or webinar is included only when its page and the live membership offer say so explicitly.

Member responsibilities

  • Provide accurate application and contact information.
  • Follow approved bylaws, policies, codes of conduct, event rules, and applicable law.
  • Respect confidentiality, intellectual property, privacy, professional boundaries, and other participants.
  • Do not misrepresent membership as a licence, certification, accreditation, endorsement, or guarantee of competence.
  • Notify ISMWE of a material account or payment issue through the approved contact route.

Ending or suspending membership

The final terms should align resignation, non-renewal, suspension, discipline, termination, notice, procedural fairness, and appeal with ISMWE’s bylaws and the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. No public webpage should create a conflicting process.

Cancellations, refunds, and questions

The approved cancellation and refund terms shown before payment will govern, subject to applicable law. See the draft payments and refunds policy.

Once an organizational contact service is approved, its membership enquiry route will handle questions. ISMWE should preserve the final version accepted with each enrolment.
